Greatest Guitar Players: Jimmy Page - Joe's Garage August 14th

Getting his professional start as a session studio musician...Jimmy Page was first approached about replacing his friend Eric Clapton in The Yarbirds...which he declined out of loyalty to Clapton. After eventually joining the band following Clapton’s departure...Jimmy was faced with replacing a number of other departing members in order to finish their current tour. He recruited both Robert Plant and John Bonham...with John Paul Jones actually contacting him with a request to join the group. They quickly dropped the name “The New Yarbirds” in favor of “Lead Zeppelin”...but their manager Peter Grant suggested shortening it to “Led” to avoid any possible mispronunciations. The rest....as they say is history. Enjoy this amazing unplugged performance by Page and Plant of my favorite all-time Zeppelin tune...accompanied by the London Metropolitan Orchestra.
