Best simple game day food - Joe’s always wrong

Grilling

With the return of football this past weekend, combined with some amazing weather for this part of Texas...it should be no surprise that the Calgaro grill was working overtime! Here are just some of the items that anyone can make that you might just find cooking over a flame in my backyard at any given time on any given Sunday....

1. Dad’s Famous Stuffed Cheeseburgers - two patties (preferably brisket) pressed together around a block of your favorite cheese...and then topped however you like

2. BBQ Pork Ribs

3. Cheddar Beer Brats (yes...a holdover from my days living in Wisconsin)

4. Calgaro Corn on the Cob (secret family recipe of spices and seasonings)

5. Stadium Dogs - anywhere from plain to Coney (chili, cheese, onion, and mustard), to completely dragged through the garden (Chicago style)

6. BBQ Chicken - the spicier the better!

The great thing about this list is that all of the items can be prepared rather quickly. All-day smoking and true BBQ can be saved for non-football days. For this football family...it’s more about speed and spending more time watching the game than watching the grill!
